Another Day Adventure

After a great breakfast from the kitchen of Fairview Manor B&B, you head up Alba Road towards Bonny Doon. Travel through Bonny Doon to Highway 1 (Coast Hwy) north into San Mateo County. Waddell Beach is open and inviting and parking is only yards from the beach. You will want to stop at Ano Nuevo and visit the resident Sea Elephants (tickets are a must December through March). After your visit, continue north on Highway to Pescadero, turn right onto Pescadero Creek Road and go two miles. A great place to stop for lunch is Duarte's Tavern, famous for their Artichoke soup and bread! Can you spell yum? Continue up tracing a narrow, winding road to Skyline Blvd (CA 35) turn right on Skyline and continue south. Fogerty winery and open vistas are available if you wish to stop. At the junction on CA 35 (Skyline) and CA 9, you would turn right and continue down Hwy 9 towards Big Basin. Time permitting you can stop in Big Basin for a quick walk before continuing down, back to Fairview Manor B&B

A GREAT WAY TO SPEND A SATURDAY OR SUNDAY AFTERNOON

Want to learn more about the local history of Santa Cruz? How about some coastal culture and architecture? How about sampling some local food and drink?
Try the Santa Cruz Food Tour, that is currently being offered on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 2pm to 5:30pm. The tour is approximately 1.8 miles of local history, cultural, architectural wonders AND you are able to sample local food and drink along the way.
Plan to arrive hungry and leave full (enough food for a complete meal).
The cost is $55.00 per person.
Wear comfortable shoes. Tour operates rain or shine.
There are plans to operate the tour during the week, later this year.
Fairview Manor will be happy to arrange your participation on a tour (please give advance notice), book the tour for you and add the cost to your bill.

LOCH LOMOND IS OPEN AND WAITING FOR YOU

Another great day trip is Loch Lomond. This pristine reservoir is open from March until September only. You can fish, hike, rent a kayak or boat or just merely relax and take in nature at its' best.
For the Fisherman, Loch Lomond is stocked with bass and trout. You are able to rent an electric boat or fish from the banks.
For those wishing to commune with nature you can rent a paddle boat or kayak and "laze" your way around the reservoir.
For those who want some hiking, there are miles of trails. Rest areas for picnicking and relaxing.
Loch Lomond is minutes from Fairview Manor.

DAY TRIPS TO FAIRVIEW MANOR

Guests often ask what they can on their way to Fairview Manor, so I will be posting suggestions for day trips! If you are coming from the Bay Area, I would suggest beginning your day at the Los Gatos Cafe for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Located almost at the corner of Hwy 9 and Santa Cruz Ave., they are open daily from 6am to 3pm. Once your meal is done, do some window shopping along Santa Cruz Avenue and decide if you are up for Wine Tasting or Garden Touring.
Wine Tasting: Head up Highway 17 and take the Bear Creek exit towards Boulder Creek. As you wind your way up, enjoy the many views. Byington and David Bruce are both on Bear Creek Rd. Once done continue down Bear Creek, making a left on Highway 9, Fairview Manor is 3 miles south.
Garden Touring: Take Hwy 9 (Los Gatos-Saratoga Rd) towards Saratoga, about 1.5 miles out of Saratoga you will see the sign for Hakone Gardens, open daily until 5pm. Continue up Hwy 9, crossing over Skyline Blvd and continue down Hwy 9. You can continue into Big Basin State Park at the junction of Hwy 9 and Hwy 236. Once done exploring the Big Redwoods, continue down Hwy 236 (Big Basin Hwy) to Hwy 9. Right at the stop sign and Fairview Manor is 3 miles south.
This should put you at Fairview Manor in time for cheese, crackers and liquid refreshments!
Don't worry we have restaurants within walking distance!

Driving Directions to Fairview Manor B&B

We are still having a problem with Google Maps!
Best way to "map" us is by using our name Fairview Manor Bed and Breakfast.
If you use the street address you run the risk of receiving directions to a private residence in Boulder Creek.
There is also Map Quest on our web site under the contact page

IT IS OFFICIAL!

FAIRVIEW MANOR B&B is starting its' 25th year.
Funny, it seems like just yesterday Nancy Glasson (aka "mom") and Frank Feely purchased Fairview Manor and started running the B&B. The running of the B&B is now being run by a second generation Glasson. Jack and I have traveled (thanks UAL) to many B&B's before deciding to retire to Fairview Manor and trying our hand in the day to day operation. You start off in the morning as the chefs and wait staff, proceed to being the housekeeping staff and time permitting you morph into the groundskeepers. It is a great way to keep the weight off.
In the five years we have been running Fairview Manor B&B we have met many gracious and interesting guests. I guess they like our breakfasts, because so many return to Fairview Manor B&B. We enjoy making our guests feel at home and go out of our way to accommodate dietary restrictions. We have developed our own menus for vegan, gluten free and vegetarian. The overwhelming response has been awesome.
This spring we are starting our own organic garden!
So thanks Mom for bringing Fairview Manor B&B into our lives and here is to the next 25 years!
